As an R&D Electronics Engineer at SonaSafe, I design and develop proactive proximity safety solutions for enterprises, integrating cutting-edge electronics with advanced analytics and staff engagement tools. I specialize in building reliable, high-performance systems like our advanced proximity warning system, which helps industries identify and manage risk around mobile plant operations. SonaSafe offers modular, customizable safety systems tailored to various work environments. Our technology focuses on minimizing false positives while ensuring safety remains the top priority, providing a solution that teams can trust to enhance workplace safety.

Korawai is a New Zealand wearable technology start-up with a vision of providing comfort through connectivity for those who can’t seek help themselves. We have spent the last few years validating our first pet-care product - a dog garment using leading edge embedded technology to calm companion dogs. We are continually working with our customers and are currently conducting research on distressed animals in a variety of anxiety settings using our initial prototype.

Contributing to a diverse level of industrial research projects associated with the Augmented Human Lab at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute in the University of Auckland.

In my thesis, I introduced a novel concept of Augmented Cloth Displays (ACD), which is defined as “output interfaces that can seamlessly be integrated with clothing to modify its properties in order to provide feedback to extend user capabilities”. I developed two novel techniques to build ACDs and two potential application scenarios for each method. Those research works resulted in multiple research publications, awards, and press mentions.

Providing teaching support across the academic semesters in the Engineering Science faculty at the University of Auckland.

Designing digital designs in HDL to develop and implement programs to improve the verification process of the EDA tool and contribute to the verification process of both newly added features and enhancements.

Contributed to several research projects in the lab (InSight, RIBbon, and Future Living Lab), including research publications and industrial affairs. Also, I collaborated with team members and client representatives. Contributed to research meetings, workshops, and other general research activities of the lab.
