Contractor/Sr. Java DeveloperWestgate Resorts/Vaco Feb 2023 - Oct 2023I am working as a contractor on several parts of the company's enterprise. I initially reworked part of the reservation booking system to support different booking clients. I then worked on the internal website maintenance platform where I added new features. This project involved both backend Java and some frontend work with Angular. I also implemented intake of external data related to customer service personnel performance. Currently I am working on Westgate’s backend payment systems. This is a significant rewrite of the existing code including rearchitecting and redevelopment of code that has passed through several development groups. The rewrite involves rearchitecting Java REST services, PLSql development and other database work.

Senior Team Lead (Development/Architect), Technical Advisor For Other TeamsNorfolk Southern May 2011 - Oct 2022Norfolk Southern takes an innovative outlook to using custom and off-the-shelf software to improve the management, efficiency and safety of their fleet. I started as a senior Java developer on the system that manages the creation of the set of locomotives used on train, an application suite called TLMS. This involves real time tracking of the locomotive’s location and health by receiving and coordinating input from multiple systems, I have architected and implemented several new systems which include manage getting locomotives to service facilities for federally mandated inspections, providing the field requests to get locomotive power on a train, the addition of managing the locomotive fleet for yard/local jobs, and creating a high volume fuel data gathering system that can feed data to the enterprise and the TLMS suite. Three years ago I was assigned to be the technical lead and architect for a project that had stalled with outside contrators, TEFM. This is a data analysis application that predicts future hiring and training needs for the engineers and trainmen, the people who operated the locomotives. After 4 years the outside contractors had not put the application into production. In less than 2 years my team released to our production environment and have added several customer enhancements.NS stays on the front edge of technology and I currently work with both Weblogic and JBoss application servers, Hibernate, JDBC and Teradata as well as some Tibco. Many service calls are secured through Layer7 and I have implemented a standard framework for our applications to make secured calls via SOAP or REST through Layer7. I have been involved with getting multiple teams converted from Weblogic to JBoss and from multiple source control systems to Git.

Senior Developer/Project ArchitectCypress Care May 2010 - Jun 2011Cypresscare provides administrative and cost reduction services to the insurance industry. I implemented several new subsystems including electronic submission of claim reimbursement requests via third party billers, a pend/transmit subsystem to allow the Cypresscare cost reduction network to process cost reductions from other networks and, a new line of business for total electronic processing of chiropractic claims. Additionally, I work with other groups to supplement their programming needs and have worked with the systems that cost and price Cypresscare’s product lines and modification of tax reporting when the company was merged to form Healthcare Solutions. My current focus is on sunsetting an old invoicing system which runs as a scheduled job and provides a simple web UI for ad hoc invoice printing. The functional aspects of the invoicing system are being brought under the current service framework and expanded to provide data exporting services which will allow the company to cut the cost of invoicing by outsourcing the printing of the invoices. While the services layer, which provides functionality to all of the enterprise, has been my main focus, I have also worked with the implementation group to develop and implement workflows for the new subsystems. The development groups are small and form with different people for each project. As a senior developer I work with everyone from business analysts to financial analysts to implementation groups. I design and implement systems and also help track down and fix bugs in existing code or enhance existing code.invoicing and development of a secure delivery of health care provider documentation from our image capture system to clients to cut the time to invoice.
