Currently my role involves nursing in Anaesthetic and Recovery where I assist the Anaesthetist during intubation and extubation for a variety of surgeries. I take an active role in ensuring patients are safe during theatre by making sure transfers are safe and also that their skin are protected if necessary for long surgeries. Also providing a second eye on clinical observations and being ready to respond in case things go wrong i.e. desaturation, major hemorrhages. Additionally I provide post anesthesia care in Recovery, i.e. managing airway and making sure pain, nausea or vomiting is well controlled before patients are safely discharged to the wards

Working full-time for OUH Trust I started the foundation programme in AICU to provide critical care for patients. Before COVID-19, I was learning to care for L3 (needing > 2 organ support/ mechanical ventilation) or L2 (single organ support excluding mechanical ventilation). During Covid, ICU practice at the Trust was modified so that the workload was team-focused rather than traditional 1-2-1. Within the teams, there were different roles - Nurse 1 and Nurse 2. I acted in the role of nurse 2 responsible for nursing tasks such as monitoring observations and carrying out nursing care ( i.e. mouth, eye and skincare).

My 3 month Erasmus exchange took place in Denia, through the partnership of my Univerity - Oxford Brookes and Universidad Católica de Valencia San Vicente Mártir. The experience gave me exposure to the Spanish system as I worked with nurses in ED, a medical ward, endoscopy and day surgery unit. Also had the opportunity to practice learning and speaking Spanish.

Paterson, an agency allowed me the opportunity to travel and work across various hospitals around Oxfordshire to gain experience with patients of different needs. Skills important to the rule include - Being flexible, as I may have to cover shifts that at a short notice. Adaptable as I am always going to new environments, meeting and working with new people and patients. Empathic as I assist in the care of vulnerable adults who may have difficulties doing simple daily tasks themselves. Communicate with patients in an appropriate manner and liaise with staff members if help is needed or emergencies occurred.

My internship for the University of Bedfordshire was for a community lead project called ME TIME which aimed at breaking down barriers to participation to get females involved in sport. My roles and responsibilities included: • Gathered information from students and staff members regarding the fitness classes they wanted on campus. Reported back to my supervisor in the University and community developer lead. • Promoted classes that were running on campus and in the community to females and also informed them about the programme that was running. • Assisted in the delivery of boxercise classes within the community and lead running on campus. Often this required interacting with women from various cultures and finding alternative means to overcome language barriers.

Arranged professional placement at a private physiotherapy clinic, in Trinidad.My roles and responsibilities included • Created rehabilitation programmes for clients of various injuries with confirmation from the physiotherapist, Recorded the progress having communicated with the clients and liaised modifications with colleagues. • Offered high-quality service through various therapies including ultrasound, and biofeedback. I developed my practical skills by administering ice massage and deep tissue massages with my applied anatomy knowledge.• Provided excellent customer service by adjusting my manual therapy techniques according to client’s feedback.
