About Sade Oba

Sade Oba is the co-founder and CEO of XEED, a wearable startup focused on full-body analytics for fitness and fun. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with a B.S.E in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S.E in Robotics. Her passions include exploring the integration of mechatronics and product design in order to better current consumer electronic devices on the market. Oba hopes to transform the dreams and desires of others into products that feel “right” for the end user and make sense in everyday life. During her time at Walt Disney Imagineering, Oba shaped designs and prototyped mechanical systems for the next generation of animatronic figures to be featured in Shanghai Disneyland & The World of Avatar. Oba has also worked for Intel's New Devices Group where she designed breakthrough product concepts, robot-based corporate demos, and biosensing wearable devices. At XEED, Oba hopes to improve the lives of others in an impactful way by helping those with Parkinson’s reclaim their bodies, overcome evergrowing obstacles, and truly exceed limits.Personal Note:I am currently exploring the integration of mechatronics and product design in order to better current consumer electronic devices on the market. Although I tend to base my work off of existing creations, I focus on using alternative designing techniques to accomplish the same goal. While I understand the value of conceptual learning, I yearn for hands-on application and practical uses in industry. I love to travel beyond traditional academic borders, satisfy the depths of my curiosity, and use my talents to make dreams into a reality. More exciting developments to come later this year!Full-Body Tracking Simplified (2021 - 2023):Full-body tracking is described as the best accessory for Virtual Reality (VR) by social media influencers and sees widespread use in popular games such as VRChat and Beat Saber. XEED developed patented technology that enables high accuracy rivaling Lighthouse Trackers while remaining lightweight and low-cost. The experience is completely plug-and-play, eliminating the need for a user to install drivers, and only requires a single USB cable to charge all the Trackers. The Link collates all the Tracker packets and can output the data via USB, BLE, or WiFi to enable a wide range of applications via the open API. Government Contractor - DARPA (2018 - 2021):DARPA contracted XEED to use their wearable technology to aid the performers in the Warfighter Analytics Using Smartphones for Health (WASH) program. The goal was to use XEED wearable data acquired from various parts of the body as a cost-effective ground-truth measurement to determine whether a cell phone in the pocket can produce similar biometric results. This required building state-of-the-art data analysis models using AI and ML techniques. Wearables for Parkinson's (2016 - 2018):Parkinson's Disease affects over 6 million people worldwide yet not enough is known about the disease to administer treatment to each person optimally. Although there have been advances in drugs and physical therapy regimens, there is still no accurate way to measure their effects and benefits. XEED brings wearable tech, robotics, and big data together to accelerate the development of new treatments and improve how people live with Parkinson's.
