I first heard the violin up close when I was 7 years old and my school went to see the famous Axelrod collection of Strads. Since then, I've been hooked, and I'm still fascinated with the sound of the violin. I started performing in public very young, and since then my violin has taken me around the world and has introduced me to many wonderful people.I'm Canadian originally, but I also lived in the UK for over 10 years (Manchester and London), and I now call Brussels home. I founded a piano trio, Trio Khnopff, in 2014, and Flash Ensemble in 2022. I also collaborate regularly with chamber music groups in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Canada. In 2016 I started a concert series called Mini Concerts, which brings together professional musicians and families with young kids to present relaxed but high-level concerts for parents to enjoy stress-free. I've presented over 40 Mini Concerts so far, and every one of them has sold out.I love the recording process, and I've released six albums, with a seventh coming out in Spring 2023 (the complete string trios by Laszlo Lajtha). I recorded the complete Brahms Violin Sonatas on Champs Hill Records, and most recently, 'Weinberg - 1945' on Pavane Records. The Weinberg was chosen as BBC Music Magazine's Chamber Disc of the Month (Jan 2020) with a double 5 star rating, and five stars from Classica. My music has been broadcast on radio stations in Canada, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, and New Zealand.I have a PhD from the Royal Academy of Music, London. My doctoral thesis explores the concept of musical tradition and the reciprocal dialogue between tradition and individual musical artistry. I used my own study, performances, and recordings of Bartok's music for violin and piano as a case study into this dialogue. My principal teachers were Atis Bankas, Yair Kless,an d Gyorgy Pauk, and I've also been mentored and guided by Ferenc Rados and Ivry Gitlis.I play on a beautiful violin made in 1687 by Goffredo Cappa and a truly remarkable bow by Etienne Pajeot (c1820).To find out more, you can visit my website:www.sadiefields.comTwitter - @SadieFieldsInstagram - sadiefieldsviolinist
