In this role, I provide research and data analytics support for the Department of Biology Teaching and Learning. Beginning with a clear end goal, I collaborate with multiple stakeholders to design research studies and data collection instruments (e.g., surveys) to meet their goals. I organize and analyze large data sets, find patterns, and create reproducible data reports that are used for research publications, course improvement projects, or departmental decision making. I lead teams of faculty, staff, and students to create high-quality data reports and write manuscripts on schedule.Some additional things I enjoy doing in this role are:• Creating informative charts with intentional components• Building reproducible data reports using code (R, R Markdown)• Mentoring and encouraging undergraduate students to develop their data analysis and scientific writing skills

In this role, I studied the molecular biology of stem cells in extraocular muscles. I was responsible for conceptualizing research projects, developing novel methodology, performing experiments, teaching other members of the lab to perform experiments with accuracy and precision, communicating scientific findings (writing and presentations), and and leading teams to complete these projects on schedule. My favorite things about this role were the opportunities to discover something new and sharing those discoveries with the world through scientific writing. In addition, since leaving this position, I have enjoyed multiple opportunities to provide consulting for this lab group to assist them with troubleshooting methodological issues.

In this role, I studied skeletal muscle aging and mitochondrial dysfunction. I led clinical and laboratory research projects to write peer-reviewed manuscripts and present research at scientific conferences. Additionally, I conducted comprehensive literature reviews and summarized results and conclusions from primary studies to write two scientific review articles.
