I am indeed grateful for the opportunity given to me to serve, learn and gain work experience. This Commission has given me more insights into its roles and responsibilities in the Nigerian Power Sector. Below are some of my responsibilities at the Engineering & Performance Monitoring Division;1. Technical evaluation of license applications submitted to the Commission. These licenses include Generator & Transformer importations, Metering Service Providers (Installation & Manufacturing of Meters), etc.2. Investigations and documentation of the 11 distribution companies' accident reports.3. Attending meetings to record detailed minutes.4. Data analysis of the Meters installed by the DISCOS.5. Data analysis of the power sector (Transmission, Distribution, and Generation companies) and using Ms. Excel to create a Dashboard.6. I also worked as the aide to the Commissioner of the Engineering & Performance Monitoring Division, Dr. Chidi Ike.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, Apo Transmission substation has given me the opportunity to gain experience during three (3) months of industrial training. The exposure to real practical skills (technical works) and as well as the knowledge received were very enlightening. These experiences have successfully broadened my understanding and interest in Electrical and Electronic Engineering as a profession, especially in the field of Electrical Power. With participation in different projects and lectures, I have been exposed to the power sector in Nigeria. I appreciate this opportunity given to me by TCN and my University which has led to the application of theoretical knowledge into practice through the tasks done. Below are some of the tasks that were carried out;1. Installation of New transformers, voltage transformers, current transformers, isolators, and circuit breakers2. Inspection of Personal protective equipment and all apparatus at the substation.3. Marshaling and laying of Protection Cables in the 330kv Switch yard, Fault Detection, and Troubleshooting of relay machine;4. Carrying out the annual preventive maintenance on Transformers. I was also responsible for recording and documenting the test results using MS Excel.I can confidently say that the experience gotten from this training was worthwhile experience.
