About Sadiqa Jabbar

Architect and Urban Designer working at MEB Design Ltd on a range of community schemes and Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University as a core member of Managment Practice and Law team. My interest lies in sustainable projects that benefit the community at large and that have a positive social impact. I believe in ensuring each project brings value to those who experience the buildings, spaces and places we design. I follow this concept through in my mentoring and tutoring to empower young people.Through my experiences I have developed a portfolio of community, residential, education, healthcare, some commercial work, a scheme to socially integrate an urban slum community into the wider society in Delhi, research on community participation and land rights in Bangkok, and women’s rights to own and control land and property in Karachi. As a member of Muslim Women Connect's School Speaker programme I have enjoyed speaking at a number of school assemblies and attended a couple of career fairs, one of which was part of the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) East London organised event. More recently I have volunteered to become a Mentor on the RIBA Student Mentoring scheme for third year undergraduate Architecture students, and have been a Mosaic Secondary School Mentor for The Prince's Trust. In 2017 I founded and organised a series of events for professional Muslim women under the tag, Pass the Mic Sis. We launched online on our first birthday in May 2018 across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+ (now defunct), and a website a few weeks later. As a professional Muslim woman, I feel the need to represent my voice through becoming a positive role model for the future generation of Muslim and non-Muslim girls and young women. What is the legacy we want to leave behind?Specialities: architecture, urban design, education, healthcare, residential, community, event organising, mentoring

Listed skills include Urban Design, Architecture, Architectural Design, Construction Drawings, and 29 others.
