Born and raised in Santa Cruz County, since 2007 Sarah has been working on social justice issues in the community, ranging from educational advocacy and racial equity, to working with those that have been impacted by the criminal justice system. Sarah has come to value the importance of collaboration and building relationships with community and stakeholders, especially when working on complex social issues and systems change. In 2016, Sarah was promoted to the Director of Community Organizing at United Way of Santa Cruz County. Current projects include the Youth Action Network, Community Corrections Partnership’s Shared Safety efforts, Jovenes SANOS and the Children's Network. Prior to working with United Way, Sarah was the Public Policy Manager with Homeless Services Center and also worked with Barrios Unidos coordinating the Prison Project. Sarah served on Santa Cruz County’s Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Commission. She has a BA in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz and a Master’s Degree in Criminology, Law, and Society from UC Irvine.
