Mateo's experience practicing emergency field medicine as a medic in New York City, and in rural areas abroad, has made him useful in the face of tragedy. Through experience-based learning programs, Mateo is equipping himself with the tools to build a socially responsible enterprise. Mateo holds deep admiration for his mentors who have set the basis of an intellectual network that has sustained Mateo his entire career. Mateo is originally from the Andean foothills of Quito, Ecuador where he lived until he immigrated to New York at a young age.
