Safeer Ullah Khan has been associated with theater for over 23 years. He has actively used his theatrical skills to raise awareness among the masses on various social issues including girls’ education, domestic violence, sexual harassment, child labor, corporal punishment, and child marriages. Currently, he is working on a project for the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to raise awareness about the issues faced by persons with disabilities and developed a play for Theatre Wallay (supported by UNFPA Pakistan, and the School of Leadership Foundation) on child marriages, gender-based violence, and sexual and reproductive health issues. He has expertise in developing scripts, directing plays, and teaching theater classes. He has directed innumerable plays including. Sau Baras Ki Story, Akhri Salute (Manto’s story), Main Ne Kuch Nahi Keya, Siasat at 8 PM, and Aao Drama Dekhen (based on Manto’s radio plays). He has acted in numerous plays including Tartuffe (a French Play in Urdu), This Stained Dawn (Dagh Dagh Ujala), and The School for Wives (a French play in English). He toured the USA as part of the team performing ‘This Stained Dawn’ in 2015. Recently, he has toured various cities in Pakistan with his solo show ‘Safeer Ke Monologues’. Besides conducting numerous theater workshops, he has taught acting classes at various institutes including the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Rung School of Music and Arts, The Black Hole, and Ahang Kada.
