Career, from the Latin, means moving out of control, and since professional changes come in many forms, from forced to voluntary, mundane to transformative, it may feel out of our control. Promoting one's unique value proposition (in academia, public policy or in industry) using focused social media presence, however, will engender the confidence necessary for a successful transition. My cross-sectoral and intercultural insights facilitate this for young professionals and mid-career executives alike. Online fluency is essential today, and underpins successful networking, influencing and engagement, opening new doors.Linked to market knowledge, promoting actual key strengths and closing any skills gaps you may identify all contribute to making your next transition happen effectively and often more quickly than you first imagined. Our growing focus on sustainability implies changing how we create opportunities for every child and adult to flourish: a Glocal approach to education and careers, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (especially number four) is critical, and constantly requires insight and discovery. Since 1989 in the international education field, I have had challenging and eye-opening experiences in more than 55 countries, and worked with students, alumni and career changers from twice that many. This has given me an in-depth awareness of the wide range of values, perspectives and priorities of achieving success in different cultures, and apply this to my admissions and career counseling as well as to managing and training teams. I am passionate about reflective leadership, and provide needs-based career advice, program development & training worldwide to individual professionals and institutions. Co-development happens when the best match is identified and supported in an environment of engaged commitment, reaping benefits for the individual, the team and their organization.
