I am currently a second year ‘Food Marketing and Product Development’ at Sheffield Hallam. I have nearly 5 years of experience in the hospitality industry; whilst I am looking to leave this industry and enter food development and marketing, I have picked up a variety of skills which I think are transferrable between the two areas of work. Working in the hospitality industry has also improved my confidence and has taught me how to get on with tasks individually in a quick, efficient manner due to the fast-paced nature, however it has also taught me to work well and communicate in a team environment. My confidence has also grown due to interacting with customers and therefore having to engage in conversations with people I have never met before and provide information and guidance in a polite manner; which before working used to make me feel uncomfortable.
