I had been looking for an international opportunity for a while now when I came across the internship open at Beatrice Bayliss. After a quick interview with Emily-Jane, I received my acceptance. It was a very exciting experience to intern for a London-based fashion startup.Beatrice Bayliss is a British 'slow fashion' clothing brand based in London. Throughout my internship, I played my role by creating content for BB's website. The content largely focused on sustainable fashion, and tips for people looking to start dressing sustainably. I was also responsible for generating ideas for marketing campaigns that aligned with the brand's ethos. Additionally, I worked on planning the SS '23 photoshoot that featured the brand's clothing in an engaging way (image added below).I am proud to have contributed to a brand that is making a positive impact on the world by promoting ethical and sustainable practices. Also, I find fashion very intriguing, and I would love to work in the fashion industry some day.

For the second consecutive year, I was able to land an internship at NSTP, the Science Park at NUST. This time, I served as a Social Media Management Intern at SehatBase. SehatBase is a healthcare service that plans to introduce a platform to make healthcare easily accessible and convenient. I was tasked with building our brand, putting together a content calendar for our Instagram, designing our posts, and ensuring that they went up on time. Through our platform, we spread awareness about health issues that people generally do not know much about. We also addressed taboo issues such as depression and body dysmorphia. Also, we researched recent advancements in healthcare, such as Digital Twin Technology and Smart Watch ECG, and informed people about these. Apart from helping build confidence in my social media work, SehatBase gave me a very unique perspective into the world of healthcare and tech.

I founded Thunder to make up for the lack of a proper magazine at NUST. I gathered a team of creative students around me, and we got to work on bringing forward a platform that would connect all the different kinds of artists across campus. With a lot of attention to detail, we were able to release a beautifully crafted first issue, which was met with a positive response. We were able to achieve 40+ pre-orders. As this was my first leadership role, I drew inspiration from the management style of Steve Jobs.

Convate is a startup aiming to introduce a platform for people with ideas. People visit the app, present an idea, and connect with other like-minded people. I was hired to manage the social media pages, and handle some other designing jobs. I planned the entire Instagram feed, designed our merch products, and put together a tutorial video on how to use our app. It was a very rewarding experience, and I went deeper into social media marketing and designing in this part of my career.

I joined Startup Lounge as the only intern at the time. I worked directly with Zain Hassan, one of the founders of Startup Lounge. Startup Lounge is an Instagram-only page that focuses on providing accurate, easy-to-read information on the world of startups. My objective for the entirety of the internship was to plan and design our posts for the annual funding summary posts. The posts focused on all the startups that had acquired a meaningful amount of funding in the year of 2021, and provided interesting insights in the shape of graphs and charts. A lot of the time was spent in planning. I first did some research on Startup Lounge's competitors, and made a comprehensive document of the positives and negatives of their brands. We integrated all the positives into Startup Lounge's Instagram, and learnt from the mistakes of our competitors. We then collected all the data, arranged it neatly, and designed the social media posts. The results were neat, convenient and easy to go through.

I co-founded Edworld with a friend of mine, who wanted to introduce a free-of-cost e-learning platform in Pakistan. We spent months in planning, and got tutors onboard for our service. With the start of the academic year, we kicked off with the classes. I also worked as a tutor in this time, teaching O Levels Chemistry to a class of two, and C++ Programming to a class of three. Unfortunately, the startup was unable to get through the development phase, and suffered majorly because of COVID-19. Operations were suspended indefinitely.

I had always wanted to get some work experience at the National Science and Technology Park (NSTP), here at NUST, Islamabad. I finally got my chance when I got hired as an intern by Power Walk. Power Walk is a tech startup focusing on building piezoelectric flooring, which converts footsteps into electrical energy. My team was tasked with writing blogs for the startup's blog. I picked up some valuable lessons on maintaining a brand voice, and got to experience the intriguing workings behind a tech startup. For my final task as an intern, I wrote a video script for the startup. The script was later turned into a video that featured team members introducing the startup and its workings.

Shadiyana offered me my first ever professional experience. I was tasked with researching and writing several blog posts, revolving around wedding experiences. I also called up hundreds of wedding halls, photographers and makeup artists, for the purpose of data collection. This information was used to make up the initial directory of Shadiyana.

I was approached to join The Global Spotlight by a classmate, who had taken on the responsibility of bringing its Pakistan Chapter to life. After seeing the massive impact that they had made all over the world, I did not hesitate in taking up the offer. I spent my time there building my Canva skills and gaining much-needed experience on social media marketing. I parted ways with The Global Spotlight Pakistan in January 2021, on the lookout for new challenges.
