As a disability rights advocate and public policy consultant, I have over 20 years of experience in promoting and protecting the rights, dignity, and inclusion of people with disabilities and their families. Some of my recent achievements and involvements include joining the 2023-2024 cohort of the NJ LEND Fellowship at The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities, delivering the keynote speech at the Trenton Autism Safety Awareness Forum in April 2023, serving as a council member of the NJ Council on Developmental Disabilities since 2012, and graduating from the Karamah Muslim Women Lawyers for Human Rights virtual law and leadership program in July 2020. I am passionate about empowering and uplifting marginalized communities, especially those who face multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination and oppression. My mission is to create positive and lasting social change through advocacy, education, and collaboration.

The federal Administration on Developmental Disabilities originally designated the center as the University Affiliated Program of NJ; the center was renamed in memory of Elizabeth M. Boggs, Ph.D., in 1997. PIP participants learn about current issues and best practices, and become familiar with the policymaking and legislative processes at the local, state and federal level. The overall goal is to achieve a productive partnership between people needing and using special services and those in a position to make policy and law.Each session is devoted to specific topics with nationally known experts as presenters. PIP participants must complete assignments between sessions and commit to one major assignment, such as serving an internship, organizing a letter writing campaign, organizing special receptions or town meetings for public officials.
