About Sagar Joshi

I am a Ph.D. candidate with a specialization in electrospun polymer composites for Li-ion battery separators and solid polymer electrolytes. In my doctoral work, I have gained extensive experience in various aspects of polymer science and battery technology. I have expertise in electrospinning polymer and composite solutions to fabricate advanced materials for Li-ion battery and solid polymer electrolyte battery applications. I have also developed skills in preparing electrodes (cathode and anode) using both wet and dry processes. Additionally, I have conducted electrochemical characterization of coin cells to evaluate their battery performance.Prior to my Ph.D., I completed my Master's thesis at the National Chemical Laboratory in Pune, India, where I focused on the synthesis and characterization of polymers for fuel cells. I utilized techniques such as NMR, FT-IR, TGA, and DSC to analyze and understand the properties of these polymers.During my time as a Project Assistant at the National Chemistry Laboratory (09/2015- 03/2019), I worked on developing novel and efficient polymers for use as separators in Li-ion batteries. I synthesized and characterized polymers with intrinsic microporosity (PIMs) for charge separation and as separators for Li-ion batteries. I also prepared functional porous polymers and electrospun mats for use as Li-ion battery separators.I worked on multiple projects during NCL, Pune as Project Assistant. In one project, I contributed to the development of a high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell, specifically working on composite preparation and the production of acid-stable bipolar plates. In another project, I focused on reducing the density and improving the barrier properties of polypropylene for yogurt packaging, involving reactive extrusion and thermoforming processes.My diverse professional experience has equipped me with a strong background in polymer science, materials characterization, electrochemical analysis, and battery technology. I am passionate about developing sustainable and efficient energy storage solutions and look forward to applying my skills and knowledge in a challenging research or industrial setting.
