Michüksus! My name is Sage Innerarity and I am a citizen of the Ione Band Of Miwok Indians. I graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College in 2022, where I majored in English and American Studies with concentration in Native American Studies. I was also the recipient of the George Rogers Taylor Prize for my thesis in American Studies entitled "Stealing the Fire: (Re)claiming, (Re)telling, and (Re)covering Miwok Creation Stories and Oral Histories."I am now am a graduate student at Simmons University pursuing my master's in Library and Information Science with concentrations in Cultural Heritage and Archives. In the Fall of 2023, I served as a graduate intern with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Archives, where I was responsible for processignthe oversized maps collection and conducting research into My work focuses on centering Indigenous voices within the archival record, ethical and culturally informed stewardship, and archives as places of memory and storytelling. In addition to my academic and professional pursuits, I am deeply dedicated to cultural revitalization efforts, and have served as an Oral Historian and Program Coordinator for the Miwok Heritage Center, a non-profit cultural heritage organization whose mission is to preserve and revitalize Miwok language and material cultural for future generations. I am also a 2023-2024 Native Youth Grantmaker through Native Americans in Philanthropy, through which I have served as a member of the National Gallery of Art's 250th Advisory Committee and a grant reviewer for Native Voices Rising.
