This six month non-partisan internship allowed for a fulsome understanding of the functioning of provincial government. Starting with a four week placement in the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation with their Strategic Policy Team, I was able to learn about the important work being done to put forward meaningful policies working towards reconciliation in British Columbia. I was also able to work in new skills such as writing briefing notes, which was a wonderful learning opportunity. I was able to learn from some incredible people, including my phenomenal ministry mentor Stephanie Mannix. Next was a three month caucus placement with the Official Opposition. In this role, I was able to work on skills such as understanding and working with Budget Estimates data, work to prepare materials for Members of the Legislative Assembly for Budget Estimates, and working to prepare questions and materials for Committee Stage for Bills. During this time, there was also a one week constituency placement during which time I was lucky enough to spend time with MLAs Bent Stewart and Renee Merrifield to learn about the important work their offices do and the struggles that those in their communities of Kelowna West and Kelowna-Mission respectively experience. We also spent the month of June doing educational activities such as Model Parliament, a Mock Trial, and more. I have learned so many valuable skills, some important life lessons, more about my own inner strength, and have made wonderful friends in my intern cohort. In addition to providing fun and educational tours in French and English, I will be supervising and providing guidance for summer tour guides and parliamentary players. I will also provide coverage on outside podium, main entrance tour desk, and gift shop. I will also be interacting with tourists, and will step in to mediate conflicts if/when necessary.

Employed during summer 2021 and summer 2022 to provide French and English guided tours for tourists from all around the world visiting the BC Legislature. Tours included information about provincial history, political parties and procedures, and the function and history of government. My personal tours focussed on Indigenous history, diversity and representation of women, BIPOC, and other minorities in government.
