Associate
Current
Fulbright Grantee
Primarily, I worked as a coordinator at the U.S. Embassy's American Corner located in Luang Prabang, Laos. I was responsible for executing the center's budgeted projects, maintaining a secure and positive environment for our beneficiaries, and assisting in US-Lao cultural diplomacy. At the American Corner I also taught English and life skills lessons to the local community and hosted workshops on topics such as hygiene, gender equity, and university life. Through Fulbright, I was also placed at Souphanouvong University, one of the premier higher education institutions in Laos. I served as an English language instructor where I had the privilege of teaching courses on story-telling, resume writing, and public speaking.
Membership & Programming Associate
As the oldest remaining synagogue in Northeast Philadelphia, I had the privilege of working primarily with the congregation's aging population. I facilitated both small and large-scale events, produced a monthly mailer along with weekly newsletters and served as a familiar face to welcome into the synagogue. I also worked with local community leaders to brainstorm solutions to some of the city's greatest problems including safety, food insecurity, and mental health.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Assessment, & Learning Fellow
I was placed at the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village (ASYV) while serving as a member of the Joint Distribution Committee's Jewish Service Corps (JDC-JSC). Originally opened to serve the child survivors of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda, the organization now serves serial survivors of trauma as their original demographic has aged out. I collaborated with leadership in all organizational data collection and analysis, strategic planning, and reporting activities. I worked with ASYV to further gender equity and public health initiatives. I functioned as a mentor and informal English language instructor to the youth beneficiaries within the organization. I also had the opportunity to serve as the debate coach and research director for the 2018 debate team.
Global Ambassador
Completing four separate study abroad experiences through Northern Arizona University, I wanted to pay it forward to other students by serving as an ambassador to the University's Center for International Education (CIE). I encouraged NAU students to venture abroad and provided support and motivation throughout the application process and the exchange itself. I assisted students in applying for grants and scholarships to make their dreams a reality. I also gave presentations to NAU classrooms, hosted coffee hours, and tabled various events for the CIE. Finally, I helped to welcome incoming exchange students into NAU's culture by participating in the CIE Orientation Week.
Teaching Assistant
I served as a Peer TA/Tutor for an introductory course to American Politics and Political Science as a discipline. Responsibilities include providing additional resources to students enrolled in my class in the form of study sessions and tutoring, making myself available as a resource on campus, and encouraging freshman enrollment in political science classes.
Pre-Law Community Mentor
A program of Northern Arizona University's Residence Life, the Peer Community Mentor program brings together a group of freshmen students with similar interests/career paths and pairs them with a senior mentor. As the mentor, I was responsible for hosting regular events, assisting my mentees in preparing for exams and adapting to campus life, and supporting them in any way that they might need. As our group was focused on those interested in pursuing a career in law, I connected them with key faculty members, hosted guest speakers, and planned a field trip to our local courthouse.
Student
The courses I took examined topics such as the politics of the developing world, democratization and liberalization of the MENA region, politics of economic integration, and the Arabic language. This experience also gave me the opportunity to travel throughout the MENA region and immerse myself in the Arabic language and the various cultures of the Arab world.
Research Intern
Under the supervision of a professor and the Fatimah Self Help Center Team, I conducted a research based analysis on the impact of HIV on female sex workers in Bangkok and the Thai government's response to the issue. In my spare time I also volunteered directly at the center.
Legal Intern
As a legal intern I was responsible for performing basic translation services, conducting background research, case building, and document editing under the supervision of an attorney.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
I was responsible for conducting research and composing a literature review on political science pedagogy. The paper was presented in February of 2016.
Honors Ambassador
I was responsible for recruiting new students into the University Honors College through tabling events, providing tours, and giving on campus presentations.
Food Productions Manager
I was responsible for managing the dining hall. This included ensuring that dietary restrictions were met, all 600 campers and staff were fed during meals and managing a team of employees.
