I work with early-stage companies whose mission and team I find interesting and purposeful, typically as a fractional CFO. In addition to general oversight of the finance and accounting functions, I provide financial engineering, help in establishing core partnerships, analysis re optimal strategies for growth, and support for additional (and continual) fund-raising efforts. I also often serve as the Secretary to corporation, as the officer tending to Board matters and shareholder/investor relations.My current research interest is focused on the angel investor community, and the importance of its role in capital formation and its relative contribution to innovation. While the Venture Capital industry gets much of the credit for driving innovation in the US economy, early-stage, often patient, capital provided by individual angels and angel groups are in many respects more critical overall to the establishment and subsequent success of start-ups.
