While studying at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera with a double major in Printmaking and Sculpture, I started working as a Cultural Mediator at Villa Necchi Campiglio House Museum. I give daily tours of the museum house, grounds, and temporary exhibitions in both English and Italian. Many notable people have been in my tour groups, including the iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, movie director Wes Anderson, and former Prime Minister Mario Monti and his wife. I adjust my tours to the group of the day; I would ask at the opening of the tour what drew the group there, and focus on the aspect of the museum that I thought they would be most interested. For instance I emphasize different elements to a group of architects compared to a group of interior designers. ​My responsibilities include managing the internships from Scuola Lavoro. I’ve trained and supervised about 120 interns and monitored them on the job. On many occasions I was the lone or senior museum representative on hand for special events, such as weddings and embassy receptions. For example, I was the sole museum representative supervising a photography shoot in the museum for Calvin Klein with Naomi Campbell. To optimize museum operations, I took initiative to fill in wherever work was needed. At times I worked in the ticket office, sold items in the gift shop, supervised installation of event equipment to ensure protection of grounds, and more.I’ve worked as marketing strategist intern for Carolina Herrera fashion Company for a year when working on my university final project in San Francisco, USA. ​I am fluent in English, Italian, and Persian. When I was 18 years old I started working as an English instructor at Safir Language Academy in Tehran, the most prominent language academy in Iran.​However my most challenging professional experience was at Finnesterea, a residential Afghan refugee center here in Milano. I was nominally a language interpreter, but in reality I managed nearly every aspect of resettlement for 40 of Afghan refugees, preparing their documents from scratch, taking them to medical and diplomatic appointments, listening when they needed to talk. As a Persian speaker, I was continually translating both the literal words and the cultural sense of what was taking place to immigration officers, therapists, Italian teachers, the directors of the center, medical doctors, and so on. Every professional communication will seem easy after this.
