As an Early Childhood Facilitator, I led the design and execution of an early childhood development program at Immigrant Services Calgary. Despite operating with a limited budget and minimal community exposure, the program's success led to an additional three years of funding due to high demand and positive community impact.In my role, I managed various program components, ensuring that all activities were age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and supportive of the social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and physical development of children aged 2-5 years and their families. I showcased strong leadership by independently organizing and planning both in-person and virtual sessions, facilitating workshops, leading a team of volunteers, and conducting outreach activities to engage clients.I also collaborated with my team to design and continually improve program documents, including curriculum development, program handbooks, and multimedia resources. My ability to build trust-based relationships with both children and families—both in-person and virtually—significantly enhanced program outcomes, enabling us to serve over 100 families annually.

My position as a Child Support Worker at YW provided me with an opportunity to ensure a safe and supportive environment for women and children to engage in play-based activities which created and enhanced a sense of security and belonging. Through close observations when working with children, I assessed behavioral or emotional difficulties that might be a result of witnessing and/or experiencing domestic violence. Through everyday interactions, I developed skills in effectively communicating with and supporting mothers in actively engaging with children. I also conducted client intakes and accurately inputted information into Outcome Tracker database, in an organized manner which enabled me to advance my administrative skills.

In my practicum placement with Making Changes Association, I had the pleasure of working closely with newcomer and immigrant women who were participants of the Employments and Life Skills Program to offer caring support including plain language skills to ensure understanding of program components. I effectively worked as a team with facilitators to assist in daily housekeeping and smooth facilitation of the program and provided assistance to the program manager in the office with administrative tasks and projects such as development of childcare manual. My creative skills allowed me to effectively develop PowerPoint presentations for program delivery according to provided curriculum outlines along with applying resourcefulness and marketing strategies in creating visually pleasing program flyers which can be seen around in the community as well as on Making Changes’ social media pages.

In my Education Assistant practicum, I experienced working with a Grade 3 class of 31 students including ELL/ESL students and students with learning disabilities. This placement gave me an opportunity to offer my speciality in support and assistance to students individually and in small groups and develop my skills in calmly supervising energetic students in-class and out of class. My previous knowledge of technology played a role in going over and beyond to assist the teachers in providing instruction and troubleshooting to students with using technology i.e., Google Chromebooks as well as a variety of computer software.

I monitored the maintenance of a caring, clean, safe, and a fully organized atmosphere.
