Serving as the sole Resident Director for the South East Asian Flagship Language Initiative (SEAFLI) - Thai program, in its founding semester, hosted at Chiang Mai University. (SEAFLI) is a special initiative of the Boren Awards for International Study offering awardees the opportunity for intensive study, structured language instruction; and peer tutors/conversation partners with native speakers of the target language. • Directing the program on ground as the local liaison between American Councils and Chiang Mai University administration to ensure that the academic program is administered successfully.• Providing regular counseling to participants to ensure a successful transition and completion of the academic semester, including providing care for social, emotional, psychological and well-being needs.• Organizing creative and engaging co-curricular programs to engage participants in cultural learning experiences and enhance studies beyond the classroom.• Monitoring participants’ health, safety, academic performance, and promptly address significant issues during the course of the semester.• Mediating between stakeholders such as students, faculty, and host families in instances of conflict or concern, including academic, cultural, social and personal.• Managing program finances including administering payments, expense reports and accounting for all program expenditures.• Conducting pre-departure orientation at home institution (US) and in-country orientation, including the provision of informational, logistical and emotional support to ensure participant's are well-resourced in preparation for studies.• Generating institutional reports and maintain oversight for academic advising, grading, test scores for the full student cohort.• Responsible for enforcing policies regarding academic, community and legal expectations of program participation.
