Colleagues describe them as "Sahar took two classes with me through her LMU career, Foundations of Environmental Studies and Engineering Sustainability & LEED where she received her LEED Green Associate (LEED GA) Accreditation. In the later class, we visited several iconic LEED buildings in Los Angeles, such as The Getty Center, NRDC and TreePeople. Sahar’s main class project was on Playa Vista Elementary School where she presented on all the LEED credits achieved making Playa Vista Elementary School the First LEED for Schools (Platinum) in the LA Unified School District. Beyond the classroom, Sahar was actively involved in sustainability efforts on campus. Sahar was a member of LMU EcoStudents and advocated for Fossil-Free LMU. She represented LMU at the Responsible Endowment Coalition in New York City in 2012. Sahar helped organize a campus-wide event with renowned author and environmental activist – Dr. Vandana Shiva. As a Resident Advisor, she collaborated with the LIONS Garden and organized environmental educational programs in the dorms to spread awareness about organic food and composting. Additionally, she was a member of the ASLMU Environmental Responsibility Committee and helped organize LMU Farmers Markets. Sahar has demonstrated her leadership capabilities on and off campus.
