I led business intelligence & strategy for Reliance Partners, primarily focused on the agency’s InsurTech strategy (digital, automated and predictive). I helped oversee Reliance’s emerging usage-based insurance (UBI) segment, which aims to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs and mitigate risk for clients by operating on a pay-per-use model. The UBI segment leveraged application programming interface-enabled solutions (API) to integrate directly into TMS platforms, load boards and digital systems, allowing for transactional insurance for freight. I was involved with some M&A activity, such as the merger of Borderless Coverage to expand existing insurance solutions to cross border (USMCA) and international clients. In addition, I upheld many of the responsibilities from my prior role.

I managed the development of Reliance’s proprietary technology initiatives (CRM and digital ecosystem) and spearheaded the execution of a multi-phase plan towards realizing tech-enabled automation and predictive intelligence on risk profiles. I directed a multinational team of 14 members ranging from data scientists, programmers, cloud architects and analysts. I also produced industry research (ex. freight and logistics trends, innovations in insurance, macro-economic reports, implications of the US-China trade war on trucking, COVID-19 updates, the impact of driverless vehicles on insurance) and regularly presented my insights to the executive team.

I served as the lead strategy analyst for Reliance, reporting directly to the COO. Within my first 2 months of joining, I created savings of +$60,000 per annum in the total cost of ownership (TCO) for one of the agency's core technology platforms by migrating and optimizing its cloud server architecture. I interpreted +2,500,000 daily interstate and intrastate trucking authority records sourced from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Department of Transportation (DOT). I constructed Reliance's in-house relational database for near-time industry intelligence. I also executed 1 cross-functional operational excellence project and 2 technology optimization/development projects.
