Thesis presented on a numerical simulation for coupled response analysis of a moored semi-submersible with and without riser. The model is implemented in Ansys AQWA*TM and results are demonstrated for a prototype model for the coupled responses with: Case 1 - mooring linesCase 2 - mooring lines with risers. The present computational model is based upon PotentialFlow theory and the damping is considered as an external input to the model.The natural timeperiods are evaluated using free vibration with and without marine risers separately to study the effect of riser on low frequency natural time periods. In the computational model time domain simulations are preformed using regular waves and two different 100 year storm conditions to study all the low frequency responses (surge and sway degrees of freedom). The differences of responses from two spectra are compared and touchdown point variation of mooring lines and risers with respect to the surge and sway response of semi-submersible are analysed in-detail. The coupling of surge and sway responses with respect to mooring line responses is demonstrated and the results showed that for Case 2 (mooring lines with riser) responses reduce considerably as compared with Case 1 (mooring lines without riser).
