Summer InternBioinnovation Centre, Bangalore May 2022 - Jun 2022Bengaluru, Karnataka, IndiaPrincipal Investigator: Dr. Reeta Singh Fruit-flies (Drosophila melanogaster) were used as a model organism to investigate the role of an activated Toll-signalling pathway in preventing tumour formation. Tumour models were generated by crossing flies and driving expression of the tumour-inducing mutation in the 'vestigial' domain using the GAL4/UAS system in progeny. The larvae were cultured and examined for phenotypic changes - mainly in their wing imaginal discs at the third instar larval stage - during diseased conditions and compared with wild-type controls and rescue models with an upregulated Toll signalling pathway.
