About Saibal Datta

Saibal's design journey started in 2000 during his college days as a self-learned graphic & web designer. He started a design agency in 2001 'Studio Brahma', where he worked on prestigious projects including world-renowned music band 'Indian Ocean'.After 3 successful years at 'Studio Brahma', he opted to go to design school in 2004 for formal education in design and did his specialisation in User Experience from Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune.He went on to join the corporate in-house design team (CDG) of Infosys and worked on a complex banking solution 'Finacle' to enhance the overall product usability.From banking, he went on to solve UX problems in telecom by joining Grameenphone in Dhaka, Bangladesh and worked on multiple user research projects in semi-urban & rural areas to design Customer Experience.His user-centric approach got noticed by Adobe India, and he was hired as UX Design Manager for 5 products - Acrobat, AEM, CC Ecosystem, TCS and Help & Learning. He grew the design team from 7 to 25 members in Noida and worked closely with the global design HQ based in San Francisco.During one of his visit to SF in 2015, he was inspired by the design culture in tech companies. This led to him founding GDD that focuses on end-to-end UX design consulting service to product companies using a streamlined process.He helped start-ups and enterprises like Adobe, Flipkart, MakeMyTrip, Goibibo, Samsung etc in the process of converting ideas into reality. Over the last 20 years, he has become a seasoned UX professional and started mentoring on UX through workshops and classroom courses. He is also the Creative Director at Samas - a branding & web design + development agency and teaches design at Institute of Product Leadership & Chitkara Design School.As a Partner & Chief Designer - UX/UI at GDD, he brings a global design practice to GDD's design consulting services and evangelises design in tech companies.
