In its most recent annual report the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) anti-piracy body, the International Maritime Bureau (IMB), established in 1981, stated that 352 attacks of piracy took place worldwide in the first nine months of 2011, with Somali pirates responsible for 199 (56%) of the total, up from 126 for the first nine months of 2010.The alarming increase in maritime piracy has forced shipmasters and ship operators whose vessels have been attacked, robbed or hijacked either in port or out at sea, into the business of self-protection by hiring professional, armed security teams from among hundreds of newly organized anti-piracy security agencies. However, pursuant to Egypt law anti-piracy security related weapons must be off-loaded and transported by the Egyptian Army via air and returned to your vessel by the Egyptian Navy.
