I have done system development since 1999 mainly on the windows platform using Visual Studio. During my whole carrier I have always focused on writing clean code that is easy to understand.I have always enjoyed learning new things and early in my carrier I focused on learning interaction design and patterns but lately my focus has shifted on learning how to write secure software. At the same time I think it's important to always remember that the things you develop should either add a business value or enables a business capability.
