Project Engineer (Planning)
Current• Responsible for serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the Department's Complete Streets policy, and for ensuring its implementation. This requires coordination with the Division of Project Management (DPM) and supervision of staff to thoroughly assess all NJDOT projects regarding bicycle, pedestrian, and Complete Streets accommodations in a timely manner.• Responsible for administering the federally funded Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) for all public roads - municipal, county, and state - in New Jersey. HSIP funds are used for state highway improvements and locally driven roadway improvement projects overseen by the Metropolitan Planning Organizations. New Jersey has adopted the National Strategy of "Toward Zero Deaths."• Other responsibilities include overseeing staff and assisting in managing, administering and providing SME review on the various Consultant Contracts for the Bureau, developing problem statements intended to address data driven safety concerns, participation in the development of projects managed by DPM from concept development through final design, assisting in the implementation of New Jersey's Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) and helping to train and develop new professional staff to assist with delivering on the Capital Program, SHSP and HSIP goals and objectives for the State of New Jersey.
