My passion is rooted at the intersection of strategic communications, effective organizing, and resource redistribution with communities on the frontlines fighting for environmental and social justice. I work with the Environmental Campaigns team at Patagonia. I have been privileged to work at and be involved with a number of organizations, including being a co-director of Resist, a foundation that was started in 1967 by breaking the law and supporting brave individuals who refused to fight in the Vietnam War. Resist has helped spark thousands of radical, transformative organizations and has changed the traditional charity/philanthropic model of giving. Prior to Resist, I was an Associate Fellow and the Social Movements Coordinator at the oldest progressive multi-issue think tank in the United States, the Institute for Policy Studies. I was a National Organizer at the student organizing powerhouse, Global Justice. I served on the Steering Committee of United for Peace and Justice and was able to be part of the team that organized the largest actions and protests against the Iraq War. I also work with the inspiring network of direct action trainers at the Ruckus Society.My favorite things are non-violent direct action, story-based communication strategies, remote outdoor places, and spicy vegan food.
