About Saifeldin Shehata, Phd
I am a research scientist with experience in both industry and academia, a background in Cell Signaling and Protein Phosphorylation, and a passion for Genomics and Bioinformatics.In my current role as a bioinformatician within a team, I perform bioinformatic and statistical analyses for clients to help them reach their scientific goals. Our main deliverable at Fios is an interactive report that presents our main findings and details functional conclusions of our analysis.My previous work involved bioinformatic analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data in the context of transcription-coupled genomic instability and DNA-damage in cancer. In addition, I worked on analyzing, transforming, and extracting relevant data from genomic NGS datasets derived from non-coding RNA as well as chromatin/epigenetic modifications to better understand their mode of DNA binding and functional role in the regulation of telomere biology and cancer progression.I have experience working in a health-informatics software company managing a small team and upgrading the company documentation to fit software product updates based on customer feature requirements.During my research career I have also extensively taught graduate level Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in the lecture hall, the lab, as well as online, and I hope to inspire those who choose a career path in these areas achieve much more than they thought possible!Having lived in 5 countries and speaking 3+ languages, I thrive in international and collaborative environments, and enjoy learning new useful skills. I look forward to working with people with varied scientific mindsets and experiences, and believe everyone has something of value to contribute.
