About Saida Ali

I am the Global Program Manager of program that covers 14 countries across the globe; East Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa, Middle East & North Africa, South East Asia and Europe. I oversee a budget of Euros 37+ million and provide strategic leadership both programmatic and operationally. A big part of my current position and other senior roles such as the Executive Director of Coalition on Violence against Women (COVAW) and as the founding Executive Director of the Young Women's Leadership Institute (YWLI), has been strategy development, overseeing the development and implementation of the program-wide strategy, partner management, stakeholder engagement. I am a collaborative leader working with a team of 22 staff located in different time zones. Together with the team, we support and guide 175+ partners engaged in Free to be Me program. I provide strategic guidance on our focus on social and economic approach ensuring social and economic exclusion and inequalities affecting the LGBTIQ+ community are challenged. I have experience in serving in the board of the Association of Women's Rights in Development - AWID, a founding trustee of YWLI and working directly with boards in COVAW and YWLI. I volunteer as a Strategy Advisor for YWLI providing board development training to young feminists serving as YWLI board members. In my current position, I coordinate and convene an Alliance of 6 organizations, an execute committee of three Alliance partners and a steering committee of 17 persons; all in different time zones. I am accountable for the delivery and quality of the program results, for sound financial management, human resources and accountable to uphold Free to be Me values and principles. Over the years, I have worked on gender justice, feminist leadership development, girl-centered programming, advocacy strategy development, building partnerships and feminist organizing across social movements leading to indelible results at the national, regional and global UN levels. I have also served in senior and management levels in different organizations where I provided strategic guidance and leadership for both programmatic and operational functions. I am a fantastic facilitator, a collaborative leader who facilitates trust-building, team building and motivates teams to remain focused on the overall goal of the organization.
