Graduate Research Student (Phd)University Of Cincinnati - College Of Engineering And Applied Science Apr 2022 - PresentUptown West CampusI am now working as a Graduate Research Student (PhD) in Dr. Peter Disimile group in the department of Aerospace Engineering & Engineering Mechanics at the University of Cincinnati. I am investigating the flow physics around a 2D infinite circular cylinder for a high-speed incoming flow. in the domain of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). I am using ANSYS a commercial CFD software for my research. I use ANSYS SpaceClaim to model the geometry for the body in question and use ANSYS meshing to generate meshes around the body. then I export those meshes such that I can use them in ANSYS Fluent. Thereafter I use ANSYS Fluent in a standalone version to use that exported mesh for running the simulation. Presently I am running 2D simulations but Fluent runs it as a pseudo-3D one by giving the body a depth of 1. I am a graduate student researcher working on numerical modelling, analysis & investigations. -

My research domains are Smoothed Finite Element Methods (SFEM), Fracture Mechanics, Fortran and MATLAB coding. I investigated the growth and progression of fracture in random materials using an in-house coupled SFEM and Phase Field based large Fortran codes with ABAQUS a commercial Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software using the computational resources of the Ohio Super Computing (OSC). I used bash programming script files to use the OWENS cluster and with was able to control the memory spaces and the number of cores for using ABAQUS. OSC computational resources are High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters based on Linux. -

I am developing it using a FORTRAN 95 compiler.

MTPS has the highest efficiency among the power plants in Eastern India. I learnt about the various types of boilers used in power generation and their various advantages and bottlenecks. I also saw the long-term maintenance schedule for various units like for the next 10 years. Almost at the end of my training period I submitted a report to the training in charge of the power plant and to my department also. I was able to understand the difference between academic knowhow and industrial applications which was very enriching.
