Managed VMware, Linux/Unix/Wintel Environment hosted on On-Prem, and Cloud Platform (Azure)

Responsible for supporting Linux \ Citrix \ VMware environment for various clients. Involved in projects to improve stability and increase scalability in our Clients IT Infrastructure.

Working on a project to build 300 ESXi host 5.1 and also create documentation after Architectural discussions with Project leaders/ Managers. In addition also migrating (V2V) 4000 VMs from old legacy ESXi 3.5/ 4.1 to 5.1. • Assigned to work on project at Rogers Communications Inc. virtualized infrastructure.• Upgraded VMware ESXi infrastructure from version 3.5, 4.1 to 5.1 in Datacenter migration.• Installed and Configured VMware ESXi 5.1 hosts and vCenter Server for management on IBM Server hardware X3650 and X3850. • Performed V2V migration of Windows and Linux Servers from vSphere 3.5 and 4.1 clusters to newly built vSphere 5.1 clusters.• Patched servers via Shavlik and Windows Update• Upgraded VMware tools and hardware version on Linux and Windows servers after migration to vSphere 5.1 environment, resolved configuration issues after VMware tools and HW version upgrade in Windows and RedHat Linux VMs• Configured and troubleshot networking on Linux servers.• Supported Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat, WebLogic and WebSphere Application Servers on Linux 5, 6, performed shutdown and startup of servers and installed patches • Configured LVs, VG, and partitions in Linux servers, and mounted file systems• Troubleshoot and resolved users’ and group permissions on Linux servers hosting Oracle databases• Configured virtual networking by creating Distributed Switches and Port Groups in vCenter Server• Attended and participated in project review and progress meeting conducted on a daily basis

• Participated in various Projects involving different technologies like Linux , Citrix, VMware and Active Directory. • Responsible for Level 2, Level 3 calls and escalated calls. • Monitored Linux / Unix / Microsoft physical servers and VM’s using tools such as Nagios.• Performed Installation, Patching, Configuration and Administration (Red Hat Linux) RHEL.• Configured volume groups and logical volumes, extended logical volumes for file system growth needs using Logical Volume Manager (LVM) commands.• Monitored System Activities like CPU, Memory, Disk and Swap space usage to avoid any performance issues using Nagios.• Worked on Network configuration for interfaces, Ethernet cards, hostnames, net mask and routes details, DNS, NFS, LDAP, NTP and SNMP etc.• Deployed and Configure File server on various Sites for Backup prior to Citrix Conversion. • Deployed Virtual Servers to expand existing Citrix farm Using VMware ESXi 5.1 also enabled HA (High Availability and DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler). • Perform P2V and V2V Conversions by using VMware Converter. • Installed and Managed SQL Server, vCenter Server & VMware Update Manager in fresh Environment. • Created templates from VM’s and deploy VM’s from templates and allocate resources. • Created Master Image for Citrix Servers and converted to Template in VMware.• Provision XenApp Server in Citrix Farm using MCS ( Machine Creation Services ) • Performed snapshot, cloning, Cold migration and Hot migration. • Perform Backend process for Citrix conversion which involves User Provisioning, Define DHCP Scope, Publishing Application in Citrix, Creating files Shares and Roaming Profiles, Assigning GPO to newly converting Site. • Deploy and configure Main Sharp Network Printers via GPO using latest UPD reduces printer Drivers on Print Server. • Created & Implemented Custom Images for Windows 7 in English and French for newer hardware using MDT.
