As part of my research on microbiome-soil interactions, I conducted an extensive analysis on how land management strategies like slurry application influence soil microbial communities and nitrogen cycling microbes. Soil Microbiome and N-Cycling Study: Quantified key microbes across soil depths after contrasting slurry treatments. Revealed distinct responses - archaea enrichment vs. bacterial depletion, fungal proliferation, complex denitrifier/ammonia oxidizer patterns. Informs sustainable fertilization practices preserving soil fertility and ecosystem services.

During my internship under the supervision of Prof. Tellier at the chair of Population Genetics, I conducted a study on Solanum chilense, a wild tomato species from the Atacama Desert, to investigate drought resistance. Analyzed the effects of varying drought conditions on growth parameters like shoot length, shoot diameter, and transpiration rate across five populations. Findings revealed significant population-specific responses, providing insights into breeding more drought-resistant crops by leveraging the genetic diversity of S. chilense.
