As a Ph.D. [MALDI-ToF Mass Spectrometry] in Chemistry with a specialization in Chemical Biology and NanoScience, my journey in the field of scientific research has been an exciting and fulfilling one. I received my doctorate from the University of Warwick, England in 2001, and since then, I have been dedicated to making significant contributions to the scientific community.Currently, I am honored to hold the position of Tenured Full Professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK). In this role, I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring future generations of scientists while also pursuing cutting-edge research in chemistry & engineering. It brings me immense joy to see my students grow and witness their accomplishments in the field.In addition to my academic role, I consult a number of Federal Agencies, for example the Department of Homeland Security's Criminal Investigations and Network Analysis Center as a Summer Scientist. This opportunity allows me to utilize my expertise in chemical analysis to support critical investigations and play a role in ensuring the safety and security of our nation.Being recognized as a Distinguished Scientist by the Office of Naval Research in 2022 has been a tremendous honor. This prestigious designation acknowledges the impact of my research and contributions to the scientific community. It motivates me to continue pushing boundaries and exploring new frontiers in the field of chemistry.I take great pride in the projects I have directed and participated in, many of which have received support from prestigious organizations such as the Welch Foundation, The Department of Defense, The Department of Homeland Security and the US National Institute of Health. Being able to work on these projects has not only allowed me to apply my expertise but also make a meaningful impact in the scientific community.My personal brand centers around my unwavering dedication to advancing scientific knowledge and guiding the next generation of scientists. I believe in fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages innovation and critical thinking.
