• Designed and developed an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle with perching mechanisms for forest canopy research at the Professorship of eAviation.• Integrated perching arms for in-canopy manipulation to enable safe and efficient multi-tree sensing.• Reduced energy consumption by up to five times through tethered operation and achieved up to 10 N of retention force with perching arms.
