I hold an MSc in European Forestry from Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic, and a PhD in Environmental Protection from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. My research primarily focuses on Environmental Protection, with a specific emphasis on Frankincense trees (Boswellia spp.) found in the Socotra Archipelago. My work involves studying their spatial distribution, seed germination, and conservation status. From 2016 to 2017, I worked as a local expert on Sustainable Land Management for a United Nations Environment Programme Project on Socotra Island. In this role, I collaborated with international experts and indigenous communities to share my knowledge and experience in plant conservation and the rehabilitation of endangered species in home gardens and forests.Since December 2019, I have been working as the scientific coordinator of the local expert team for a Fondation Franklinia project that aims to conserve endangered endemic Boswellia trees on Socotra Archipelago. The project involves monitoring the Boswellia, Commiphora, and Dracaena cinnabari species, as well as conducting awareness activities for local communities to promote environmental protection and alleviate the impacts of overgrazing.Additionally, I hold the position of chairperson in the Socotra Society for the Conservation of Endangered Flora and am a member of the IUCN SSC Species Monitoring Specialist Group. As the first local expert and researcher in the Socotra Archipelago dedicated to conserving biodiversity, I have accumulated significant experience in biodiversity conservation, research, and the preservation of endangered flora. My professional goal is to conserve threatened species and establish cooperative plans with local communities to promote sustainable conservation and development.
