After Nigeria being removed from the list of polio endemic countries, only two countries - Afghanistan and Pakistan - remain on the list and continued reporting cases of wild poliovirus in 2015. In Pakistan, a national polio emergency action plan has been declared that is being overseen directly by the office of the Prime Minister. The new Emergency Operations Centres at federal and provincial levels ensure almost real-time monitoring of activities, implementation of corrective action and increased accountability and ownership at all levels. Within my role I am based at the federal Operation Centre and I consult within the scope of the action plan to support the programs with GIS technology and solutions.I left Pakistan in February 2017. From March 2017 onward, I work to support polio eradication programs in among others Somalia, Congo, Kenya and the African continent in general. Activities include improving disease surveillance and vaccination activities by using GIS mapping. Also, I am involved in GIS capacity building for the World Health Organization.

Therefore eHealth Africa has elaborated extensively on internal GIS capacity to provide spatial solutions for all types of health projects.In this role I served as the central point of contact for all GIS related activities, managed all aspects of eHealth Africa's GIS program and supervised a team of GIS Specialists. During my time in Kano, Nigeria I built the GIS Department from the ground up to a team of more than twenty GIS specialists.A major project the GIS Department was involved in was the mapping and vaccination tracking for polio eradication in northern Nigeria. Other projects included vaccine delivery, census survey's, and Ebola response.
