After Nigeria being removed from the list of polio endemic countries, only two countries - Afghanistan and Pakistan - remain on the list and continued reporting cases of wild poliovirus in 2015. In Pakistan, a national polio emergency action plan has been declared that is being overseen directly by the office of the Prime Minister. The new Emergency Operations Centres at federal and provincial levels ensure almost real-time monitoring of activities, implementation of corrective action and increased accountability and ownership at all levels. Within my role I am based at the federal Operation Centre and I consult within the scope of the action plan to support the programs with GIS technology and solutions.I left Pakistan in February 2017. From March 2017 onward, I work to support polio eradication programs in among others Somalia, Congo, Kenya and the African continent in general. Activities include improving disease surveillance and vaccination activities by using GIS mapping. Also, I am involved in GIS capacity building for the World Health Organization.

Nigeria

eHealth Africa is focused on building stronger health systems through the design and implementation of data-driven solutions. In order to properly respond to the local needs and to target the underserved communities, a good understanding of the area is required. Therefore eHealth Africa has elaborated extensively on internal GIS capacity to provide spatial solutions for all types of health projects.In this role I served as the central point of contact for all GIS related activities, managed all aspects of eHealth Africa's GIS program and supervised a team of GIS Specialists. During my time in Kano, Nigeria I built the GIS Department from the ground up to a team of more than twenty GIS specialists.A major project the GIS Department was involved in was the mapping and vaccination tracking for polio eradication in northern Nigeria. Other projects included vaccine delivery, census survey's, and Ebola response.

Suriname

Interim replacement of the Principal Mining Engineer on a Bauxite excavation project in Suriname. Responsible for the daily data processing and analysing (using SQL Server and MapInfo), supporting the excavation planning, and introducing new spatial tools.

In this role I worked for the Software division of Pitney Bowes as part of the Sales team responsible for the areas of Location Intelligence in the Benelux region.As a System Engineer I was involved in many of the sales activities in the form of solution design, pre-sales, post-sales and consultancy jobs. In addition to this I was active in provinding support, training and workshops for partners and/or customers.With success I was able to initiate, maintain and expand relationships with both technical and commercial counterparts. I gave numerous presentations and demonstrations about software and solutions to a wide range of audiences. I developed several tailer-made applications in collaboration with customers and partners. And I builded and presented a multitude of complex demonstration for all kinds of verticals.

As part of Cronos Belgium NV., Localyse delivered Location Intelligence Solutions to businesses and organisations in various verticals.As Junior Consultant in a team of three, I was engaged with implementing and developing solutions for combining location-related data with other business data. This enabled organizations to gain critical insights, make better decisions and optimize important processes and applicationsTechnologies I have been using to fullfill this task are: Integeo MapIntelligence, MapInfo MapXtreme, Esri's ArcGIS Server, GeoServer, QlikView, SAP BusinessObjects, Oracle, MicroStrategy, BIRT, IBM Cognos, Xcelsius.

Performing a comparative analysis of interpolation methods in order to improve current interpolation methods for Dutch climate data. Using R to program and map comprehensive geostatistical processes of environmental climate variables.

Performing a research on the topic of wildfires and wildfire ignition types in Southern Africa using the L3JRC burned area product. Multiple analyses are performed on the L2JRC product in order to derive spatiotemporal patterns about wildfire. Furthermore a model is created to distinguish natural caused fires and anthropogenic caused fires by considering the location in space and time of each occurrence.

Compose a system development methodology to adapt GIS software to new laws for governmental geodata infrastructures.
