I have over 30 years experience working with autistic children and youth. I began my career as an Early Childhood Educator and later a Psychometrist. I then gained supervisory/management experience in children’s treatment services at a non-profit agency in Toronto, where I managed two school-based programs, in partnership with the Toronto and York Region District School Boards (Section 23 programs at the time).I joined the field of research in 2008 as the Site/Research Coordinator on a multi-site North American wide project: the Autism Treatment Network (ATN) (at Surrey Place and later at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital). The network established a research registry, and engaged in research aimed at improving medical care for people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The ATN also worked on the dissemination of information to healthcare professionals and the community at large. In August of 2018, I took on a new role as Project Manager of ECHO Ontario Autism, a virtual learning network of clinicians and physicians with real-time access to autism experts.I work to improve understanding, acceptance, and true inclusion of autistic individuals in all areas of society.
