Due to my work as a Teaching Assistant under agency, I was offered a permanent role within the school.

I work with children with a range of special educational needs in a comprehensive secondary school. This includes students with behavioural and emotional needs, neurodivergent students, students struggling with their social and emotional health, and also generally just any student who requires help accessing classroom teaching. In addition to this, I run the Social Switch project in the school. This has involved me hosting an assembly and delivering training to year 10 student ambassadors on social media safety, which they then deliver to year 7 students.

I worked behind the bar and ran the ice cream stand. If the managers were not available, I would lead the close and was thus offered a shift manager role. However, I had to turn this down as I was returning to university.

Collaborating with another university student, I assisted the museum's project on birthing stories. I researched a number of different cultural and religious practices surrounding birth and reached out to local communities, asking them to share their story. As part of this project, I published several blog posts on the museum website and posted on their social media pages, engaging with their audience through likes and comments. As this was a remote position, I became proficient in different forms of software including Zoom, Microsoft and Squarespace.

This role involved balancing several tasks at once such as food and drink preparation, customer service, cleaning and stock control.
