I am a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Social Sciences and the Department of Surgery (Division of Organ Transplantation) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. I have a strong research interest in biopsychosocial relationships in the context of medical illness and treatment. My research background centers around the interrelationships between psychosocial functioning, neuroendocrine/immune functioning, physical symptom onset, and patient-reported outcomes across surgical populations. I believe that a better understanding of the relationships between psychosocial functioning and surgical outcome may help to identify optimal surgical candidates, identify biological mechanisms by which psychosocial functioning may affect health outcomes, and lead to the development of future interventions to improve psychosocial functioning and surgical outcomes. I have an interest in the relationships between psychosocial functioning, physical symptoms, and decision-making with respect to innovative surgical interventions across patient populations, including candidates for transplant surgery, candidates for reconstructive surgery, and candidates for limb restoration. I have a specific interest in in restorative transplantation, a procedure involving the simultaneous transplant of multiple tissues, including skin, nerves, muscle, bone, blood vessels, (e.g., upper limb, face, and abdominal wall transplantation). My research is also grounded in the development and application of patient-reported outcome measures across a wide range of patient populations to ensure that research captures the patients' experience when evaluating the effectiveness of healthcare interventions. Please refer to my attached CV for additional information on my research interests, training, and publications. Specialties: Clinical Health Psychology, Surgical Outcomes, Transplant, Psycho-oncology, Psychoneuroimmunology, Women's Health, Patient-Reported Outcomes
