Sally Groves was, until June 2014, Creative Director London of Schott Music, one of the oldest and most prestigious international music publishing houses. She was responsible for building and promoting theif Music of Our Time catalogue for the past 35 years. Schott’s distinguished international roster of composers includes Dutilleux, Goehr, Henze, Ligeti, Penderecki, Takemitsu, Tippett, Turnage and Widmann. Her latest signings were Richard Ayres and Gerald Barry.Sally Groves was Vice Chair of Sound and Music, a member of the Board of the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and she served on The North Music Trust Classical Music Advisory Panel for The Sage, Gateshead. She was a member of the Board of the Music Publishers Association and was given their Gold Medal in 2014.She was a member of the Executive Committee of the Society for the Promotion of New Music from 1979-90, becoming its Chairman for the last two years, a director of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra from 1998-2004 and a Governor of the Royal Northern College of Music from 1997-2006, of which she is now an Honorary Member.Sally now serves on the RVW Trust, the Michael Tippett Musical Foundation and the Vaughan Williams Charitable Trust. She is on the advisory board of the Institute of Musical Research, University of London.Sally was given the Lesley Boosey Award, honouring champions of new music, in April 2013.
