Whether as a paid consultant or on a pro bono basis, I have helped numerous organizations, professionals, and volunteers significantly increase success in their fundraising results, management effectiveness, and staff and volunteer development. With commitments ranting from multi-year full-time consulting to resolving a single question, it has been my honor to listen, assess what is needed in the context of that organization's or individual's mission, and work in partnership to move the organization or individual in the desired direction. My consulting work has varied from occasional to full time, depending on life circumstances. When my husband was gravely ill and, later, during my own illness, consulting was limited to electronic communications, mail, and visits with clients who traveled to see me. At other times, I worked full-time with clients whom I also visited as their needs dictated. As I love this work, "retirement" in 2019 has meant that I no longer take paying clients, though I continue pro bono mentoring of new professionals and volunteer my time.

Created an effective, small-shop advancement team by: providing campus-wide leadership on the advancement mission; quadrupling funds raised over the previous record by my second year; redirecting alumni relations, communications and fundraising to focus on institutional needs and priorities; intensively training and mentoring staff, volunteers, and colleagues; developing data-driven decision-making systems; and revising and creating policies and procedures to align with best practices. Served as a member of the president's leadership team, including initiating the first institutional identity study. Resigned when my health made full time work impossible.

First person to serve in this position, created by dividing the Associate Vice President's previous responsibilities in half. Directed, trained, mentored, hired and occasionally terminated development directors in seven college-based development programs ranging from well-established and raising in the millions to newly-formed. The Colleges and Programs area set its fundraising record during my tenure. Resigned in order to care for my husband at home during the last four months and to be able to return to New England thereafter.

Vice President for College Advancement, including fundraising, alumni and parent relations, and college-wide communications. Raised more than $150 million in three years, achieving 135% of goal in each of my first two years and 1,862% of goal in my third year during which the President and I secured the first $50 million gift received by any liberal arts college. Updated advancement procedures college-wide to conform with best practices. Created the college's first comprehensive communications program. Resigned because of with my husband's illness and expected death within the next year.

Director of Development for the last five years at Williams, responsibile for all fundraising from individuals. Prior to that, was successively a major gifts officer, associate director of capital giving and director of the 25th reunion program, director of capital giving and the 25th reunion program, and director of major gifts and the 25th reunion program. Under my leadership, Williams raised a record $160 million. Left when recruited to be vice president at Middlebury College.

Responsible for all aspects of the school's advancement program, I was brought in specifically to run a comprehensive campaign that had been being attempted since 1969. I: launched and completed the campaign, exceeding goal; brought the annual fund and advancement infrastructure, policies and procedures up to best practices; and completed a school-wide identify study and, with colleagues, implemented it. Recruited to work at Williams College, I left after the campaign was completed.

Term position to run the fourth campaign in 20 years; successfully managed all aspects of the campaign with a small staff, completing it above goal.

Ten-month position to work on mid-level gift; promoted to working with the director of development on the leadership gifts program, and to temporarily take charge of the corporations and foundations program. Position extended an extra year.
