Sally Morris is the founding partner of Morris.  Sally is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand, New South Wales and New York and has a Master of Laws degree from Columbia University in New York. Following summer clerkships at Slaughter & May in London and Russell McVeagh in Auckland, Sally began her career as a criminal prosecutor at the office of the Crown Solicitor in Auckland. Sally went on to clerk for a Federal Court Judge in New York, work for an international arbitrator on multi-national disputes and at a top-tier commercial law firm in Sydney where she acted for Samsung in its global dispute with Apple. Sally’s combined criminal and commercial litigation experience provides a unique viewpoint from which to resolve private client disputes.Sally now has an established reputation in the field of trust, estate and family law disputes. Sally was recognised in the 2016 NZ Lawyer Hotlist as one to watch and was a finalist for the Young Private Practice Lawyer of the Year at the 2016 New Zealand Law Awards. Sally was awarded Trust and Estate Litigation Lawyer of the Year in the Finance Monthly Law Awards 2017 and recognised by Lawyer Monthly in its Women in Law Awards Edition 2017. Sally was named as an excellence awardee for Managing Partner of the Year (≤100 Lawyers) at the New Zealand Law Awards in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and featured in the NZ Lawyer "Elite Women" list for 2021, 2022 and 2023.Sally has been published in numerous publications including the NZ Law Journal and the International STEP Journal. Sally regularly presents papers to industry conferences around New Zealand including presentations on the use of trusts to protect assets, the role of the independent trustee, the courts' supervision of trusts, challenges to estates, relationship property disputes, care of children matters, equitable remedies and asset protection following the end of a relationship. Sally is a STEP Affiliate Member and has completed the STEP Advanced Diploma in Trusts and Estates with Distinction.  Sally is a member of the Auckland Women Lawyers’ Association, ICANZ Trust Special Interest Group and the Family Courts' Association.
