I'm an Aussie who moved to Hong Kong in 2005. My first job in HK was with Merrill Lynch. I loved the job and met some great people, but I'd always had my heart set on starting my own business. Whilst at university in Melbourne, I worked for a diamond company. When I graduated and started my career in banking, I started dreaming of creating my own diamond trading company...so that's what I did when I moved to Hong Kong. I worked at ML for a few years, and on the side was running around the streets of Hung Hom on my lunch breaks, meeting diamond dealers and making connections with manufacturing jewellers. In 2009 I took the plunge, left my lovely paid job and said goodbye to my workmates. Ryder Diamonds officially opened it's doors and I sat in my tiny office on my own thinking I must be crazy. Good new is, I'm still here 14 years later and the journey has been a roller coaster of exhilaration, exhaustion and determination. I'm very lucky now to have the company of an incredible team of people and I'm proud of what we've all created together.Our team is passionate about teaching our clients how to buy smart and choose a diamond that is both beautiful and great value for money.
