I am a Lecturer in Leadership and Human Resource Management at Northumbria University, specialising in responsible business. I recently complete my PhD (September 2023) which I began in 2019, investigating the role of tradition, as understood through the lens of Alasdair MacIntyre's virtue ethics, in the experience and conceptualisation of meaningful work. My study adopts a comparative case study approach using qualitative methods featuring Christian and secular youth homelessness charities in the UK. My research has given me experience in working with organisations and communicating with individuals at various levels and has aided my written communication and analytical skills. I have published in the Journal of Business Ethics on the concept of calling and alongside my studies, I have taught a range of undergraduate modules from foundation to third year students in the areas of HRM and responsible business as well as supervising Masters dissertation students. I was also the Associate Chair of the Management, Spirituality and Religion divisional interest group at the Academy of Management 2022-2023. Prior to starting my PhD, I completed my undergraduate degree at Newcastle Business School and have worked in the charity sector.
