Skills for Logistics is a not-for-profit organisation which is committed to providing employers, training providers, individuals, policy makers and key organisations with consultancy, information and advice on skills development, training and sector intelligence.My role revolves around the emerging trailblazer apprenticeships for the logistics sector as well as developing and enhancing new and existing services offered by Skills for Logistics.

Become More.’ to improve employability.My role at Sports Leaders UK is within the Partner Services team where I lead on developing new partnerships, building diversification within the business.

I was engaged in a number of projects with FAB, the trade association for awarding organisations. The first project involved populating the on-line resources library, improving its search facility and writing short synopsis of key documents, which are available to FAB members to support their continuing professional development. I completed a research project from Summer 2017 into the Spring of 2018 looking at End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs), which explored the activities they were undertaking to prepare for end point assessment and the perceived risks for emergent EPAOs.

As Business Development Director at Lantra I was responsible for strategic business development as part of the leadership team, alongside the CEO and COO. I managed three departments; marketing, sales and a business unit, called Skills+ which is a software management package designed to enable the tracking and managing of training skills and run various agri-industry passport schemes.Lantra promotes skills development in the land-based and environmental sector across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. As an awarding organisation and a sector skills council Lantra holds a unique position driving the skills agenda with a strong emphasis on designing awards that ensure the health and safety of those working in agriculture, horticulture and landscaping, game keeping, forestry, fisheries, fencing, animal care, plant operations and driving vehicles and attachments including lift trucks, tractors, 4x4 and other off road vehicles. Lantra also works with Highways England supporting the National Highways Sector Schemes in traffic management and fencing.While at Lantra I supported the charity's Board of Trustees including the recruitment of new blood into the Board. I successfully took an internal business unit through the ISO 27001, the Information Security Management standard and oversaw the migration of the Skills+ software to a new platform which involved close liaison with the IT department and external developers.

As Head of Business Development I led a small team of sales and marketing staff at a newly established pan sector awarding organisation. IQ offered qualifications in security, facilities management, fenestration and building treatments, health and social care, polymers and learning and development, as well as a range of general qualifications such as business administration and management.In 2013 IQ set up IQ Resources LLP, which provided a vehicle for the sale of learning materials, including e-learning resources, some of which were linked to IQ qualifications and in 2014 IQ purchased the name and assets of the Institute of Administrative Management (IAM). In 2015 it opened IQ Verify, a UKAS accreditation body. In my role as Head of Business Development I steered the sales strategy integrating the different parts of the business to create standout propositions with a focus on business to business sales.

Recruited into the Business and Technician Education Council as a Regional Marketing Advisor for North London and the East of England when BTEC first moved into schools with the GNVQ, I later joined a central team preparing the first business strategy for BTEC to create 4 sales channels where I focussed on business development in FE.At the end of the 90's I became the Sector Relationship Manager for the Armed Forces and Uniformed Services Sector. A specific focus was in the Prison Sector working closely with the then new sector skills council. As the Security Industry Authority emerged in 2003 I led the strategy to create a suite of qualifications for the Private Security Industry, managing a complex set of processes required to administer licence to practice qualifications, working closely with SIA sub-sector standards development groups. My final role in Pearson Work Based Learning was working with large employers supporting them to accredit learning programmes for their employees and managers.

The post of Vistor Promotion Manager was a new position established to grow visitor numbers to the attraction. The Mary Rose, Henry VIII's flagship, was a top ten paid entry attraction in the early 90's. Promoting into the travel trade, and the local hotel industry, developing an active educational visits programme as well as marketing to the public, I successfully grew visitor numbers over a two year period which included a season of major events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the raising of the Ship. The role focussed on building first class customer service to improve the visitor experience. While at the Mary Rose Trust I helped to plan a royal visit from Prince Charles, our patron, establishing links with Palace officials and many other VIP's, handling media interest and giving a number of radio interviews.Whilst at the Trust we exhibited at the World Travel Fair and a major maritime gathering of historical ships in Brittany, generating international interest in the Mary Rose. I revised the marketing strategy and messages about the Ship to broaden her appeal to families and younger visitors with a complete re-design of the marketing materials and more careful planning and monitoring of their distribution into tourist information centres. This included a major poster campaign in London and the South East, alongside a local TV advertising campaign.

Based in the Hotel and Catering Department at the college, I taught BTEC and City and Guilds students at all levels from craft to undergraduate. Specialising in the teaching of management, behavioural studies and marketing, I was also involved in designing and selling short, full cost courses. I led the development and awarding organisation accreditation of a new HND in contract catering sponsored by Gardner Merchant and spent three months seconded to Hilton Hotels during the fitting out and opening of a new hotel near Portsmouth.Whilst lecturing at the college I completed teacher training at the University of Portsmouth as well as starting an MPhil at the University of Surrey.

Training catering staff in school kitchens throughout Hertfordshire, running training courses at the catering training school in Hemel Hempstead, recipe development and running a transport kitchen providing 1000 meals daily to 7 schools in the Watford area.
